Kansas City Fashion Week has officially announced historical Union Station as the host of Kansas City Fashion Week Fall 2013.
Kansas City Fashion Week, held October 2nd through October 6th, is the fourth consecutive five-day showcase featuring prominent and upcoming local and national designers.
Union Station, a fully restored landmark, is Kansas City’s most prominent destination for cultural and entertainment activities.
Originally built in 1914, the 850,000 square foot building accommodated an estimated one million travelers during its peak. The building was fully restored in 1999 after an initiative was passed to fund the restoration.
Kansas City Fashion Week runway shows will be held in the Grand Hall where 95-foot ceilings and three 3,500-pound chandeliers are sure to make an impact amongst fashion week goers. KCFW Executive Director, Teisha Barber, is confident the event space will prove to be a showstopper.“The historical value, rich architecture and luxurious feel of Union Station are bound to take Kansas City Fashion Week to the next level. Our photographers, designers and partners are enthusiastic about the added value Union Station will bring to the event.”
Union Station joins Hotel Phillips, KCFW official hotel sponsor, as one of the premiere historical Kansas City landmarks to join the KCFW enterprise.
