COLORMARK, Inc. announces that the business has officially changed its name to MEDiAHEAD, according Kathryn McDaniel, president. “The name change was done to better reflect our transition from a successful traditional printing business to an innovative marketing services provider,” adds McDaniel.
MEDiAHEAD will offer a variety of targeted and data-driven cross-marketing services, fulfillment and mailing services, order management/Web portals, IT services, mobile app development, and Web landing page creation.
“With the decrease in demand for litho printing and rise in popularity of digital printing, I decided to merge digital printing with new marketing technologies to help clients be more efficient and effective in their marketing campaigns,” according to McDaniel.
McDaniel says that MEDiAHEAD will provide digital printing and litho printing, including the option of eco-friendly papers and inks, to new MEDiAHEAD clients and prior clients of COLORMARK.
Larger COLORMARK clients now utilizing a selection of MEDiAHEAD marketing services include YMCA, HNTB, JE Dunn, Spin Pizza, SMG, and Arrow Truck. Fourteen COLORMARK employees transitioned to MEDiAHEAD and eleven new hires have now joined the team. They include a salesperson, an additional estimator, and four additional IT personnel to meet the demand of new IT services, three litho pressman, and two additional bindery /finishing employees.
McDaniel began initial changes in 2008 when she decided to begin providing inventory management and Web-to-print services to assist current customers. By 2010 a new website had launched with profiles of new services, including data-driven marketing programs, and Web storefronts to meet the rise in demand for customized digital marketing.
“It has always been a priority to have my business remain at the forefront of printing and marketing innovations to better serve customers,” says McDaniel. “Now, MEDiAHEAD is committed to helping our customers develop smart marketing solutions that take advantage of today’s print, email, Web and mobile capabilities.”
McDaniel believes that by tailoring relevant messages to each person, marketers can start a meaningful conversation with potential buyers. “In today’s market it is very important to interact with your customer on a one-to-one basis to increase response vs. the traditional litho printing.”
Kathryn McDaniel co-founded ColorMark, Inc. in 1990 with her former husband Mike McDaniel who is no longer an owner in the business. In 2001, she expanded operations, moving the business to a 40,000- square-foot building at 3525 Roanoke. COLORMARK received WBE (woman-owned certified business) designation in 2006.
In 2008, McDaniel led COLORMARK to become a Certified FSC printer and began offering FSC-certified paper and eco-friendly inks — one of the first printers in Kansas City following this trend. The continued growth, innovation and community involvement resulted in the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce honoring McDaniel with their “Top 10 Small Business of the Year” Award in both 2009 and 2010. The business made the area lists of Kansas City’s top revenue printers and woman-owned businesses. The business also received awards for their eco-friendly business practices.
