On the runway? Jay-Z and Rihanna’s “Run This Town”
On the deck of the Liberty Memorial, 31-year-old Jackie Kelly, a sponsorship sales account manager for the Kansas City Chiefs Network, looks out across the cityscape of the hometown that has shaped her career. Since landing her first job with the Kansas City Brigade arena football team, Kelly has negotiated sports into her professional life—it’s no surprise she’s an avid runner (having recently completed a 10K), or that she landed soccer and dance scholarships to William Jewel College.
“I love to run when I travel,” says Kelly, “and I think it’s good for me to mentally have that time to myself.”
As for her dream guy? Kelly is looking for a man who complements her life rather than complicates it, and of course, he’ll have to be active and willing to spend time outside. When it comes to perfection, however, Kelly can be forgiving.
“My father was my ultimate mentor,” Kelly says. “He admits to not being a perfect man, but he has taught me through my life that mistakes happen and learning from them is the biggest lesson we can take…in the end, it’s the character you have as a person and the way that you treat other that will leave the legacy, not your stuff.”
Her father’s philosophy is one Kelly carries with her into her charitable commitments, too. From Agenda Be to Big Brothers Big Sisters, Kelly says she’s always willing to volunteer her time and resources to a good cause.
