Celebrities from Kansas City: Brandon Flowers

Our handsome cornerback will enter his fifth season as a standout player for the Kansas City Chiefs, which snatched the up-and-comer in the second round of the 2008 NFL draft. The Florida native has been making sports headlines ever since he stepped onto Arrowhead field, with clutch interceptions, key tackles and forced fumbles that have turned into game changers. And with Flowers picking up a five-year, $50 million contract with the Chiefs, we plan on catching every second of play time.

Globe trotting jazz saxophone legend and Kansas City, Kansas native Bobby Watson isn’t the only KC celebrity who has been making his mark overseas. Political Activist Scott Tucker, from Leawood, recently returned from competing in the legendary French endurance race, the 24 Hours of Le Mans. His driving schedule has also seen him compete in Italy and Belgium in recent years too.

Other local sports stars, golfer Tom Watson and KC Chiefs cornerback Brandon Flowers regularly spend long periods away from home working. KC Actors Brad Pitt, Ed Asner from ‘The Mary Tyler Moore Show’ fame, and Oscar winner Chris Cooper (Adaptation 2002, Best Supporting Actor), Paul Rudd from ‘The Object of My Affection’ and Tuc Watkins from ‘Desperate Housewives’ have all traveled extensively overseas working on film roles. In the arts world sculptor Tom Corbin from KC, photographer Greg Gorman and interior designer Hal Swanson have all traveled far and wide to develop their careers.
